📚✨ When I was teaching, I wanted my students to take ownership of their reading choices, because when they could easily find the right books, their love for reading grew!

One simple way to make classroom libraries more student-friendly? Custom book bin labels! 🎨✂️ With my Cricut, I created labels that organized books by genre and theme, making it effortless for students to find what they needed. A neat, inviting library = more confident, independent readers!

Here’s a fun and thoughtful end of the year gift

Here’s a fun and thoughtful end of the year gift you can give to your students.🙌🏻

Type up a letter with the title “I Will Remember” or “I Will Miss,” and write out what you’ll miss or remember about your students. 🥰 Include their names and make it personal. Print them out as a letter or in a 4x6 size to place into a plastic magnetic frame.

You can also print out a quote that resonates with your class, like the “Be the Nice Kid” quote. Put that into a small photo key chain and make that a part of the gift too.

My last year teaching, I decided to add a friendship bracelet to the gift and I packaged them all together in a cellophane bag.❤️

🦋 Here’s a simple sprint art project you can do with your students:

You’ll need watercolor paper (computer or construction paper works fine too), watercolors, and black crayons or pastels.

Directly show students how to draw a half butterfly on their papers. I’d recommend they use pencils first, the. Trace with the black crayon or pastel.

Then students can use watercolors to pain the butterfly and background.

You can suggest that they use warm and cold colors to contrast the painting. You can also start the lesson by showing your students pictures of real butterflies so they can see the differences in colors and the intricacies of their wings.

This is a great way to end the day and to give your students a chance for mindfulness and creativity!

Here’s a fun project for spring!😍

My students wrote a poem about themselves and created these fun, creative faces to go along with their poems.👏🏻

I displayed their finished products around a giant rainbow that was made by cutting up colored construction paper squares-which makes a cute end of the year Open House display. You can see it in my feed from last week. 🌈

It was a huge hit with my students! 🫶🏻

Here are 5 examples of high impact strategies:

1️⃣Direct Instruction
An instructional strategy that is explicit. Teachers model the skill and give students opportunities to practice in a gradual release format.

2️⃣Success Criteria
Success criteria provide students with an opportunity to assess their own learning. It can look like “I can” statements, rubrics, and are often co-constructed with students.

3️⃣Teacher Clarity
Teacher clarity is understanding what students need to learn and identifying how they will know that they learned it. It requires analyzing standards and planning meaningful instruction and assessments.

4️⃣Classroom Discussion
Classroom discussion involves much more than a teacher asking a class a question. It can be structured and involve students using academic language and specific language frames to have a discussion with their peers.

5️⃣Formative Assessment
Formative assessment is an assessment for learning used to monitor each student’s learning. It informs the student of his/ her progress in becoming proficient, and it also informs the teacher about the effectiveness of instruction and where to go next in the instructional process.
